Why The Dark Ages Were Not Really That Dark | Age Of Light Full Series | Chronicle

Published

on

The Dark Ages have been misunderstood. History has identified the period following the fall of the Roman Empire as a descent into barbarism – a terrible time when civilization stopped.

Waldemar Januszczak disagrees. In this four-part series, he argues that the Dark Ages were a time of great artistic achievement, with new ideas and religions provoking new artistic adventures. He embarks on a fascinating trip across Europe, Africa, and Asia visits the world’s most famous collections, and discovers hidden artistic gems, all to prove that the Dark Ages were actually an ‘Age of Light’.

Welcome to Chronicle; your home for all things medieval history! With documentaries covering everything from the collapse of the Roman Empire to the beginnings of the Renaissance, from Hastings to Charlemagne, we’ll be exploring everything the Middle Ages have to offer.

At certain moments, this guy sounds exactly like Gordon Ramsay. It’s very brief, but I can hear it.
And, nooooo, I don’t think all British accents sound alike. I went to Uni in Leeds. I’ve heard it all. Huddersfield to Dover.

Waldemar Januszczaks, is a Jew.. Hence the mocking tone and clear disdain for Christianity throughout the documentary. Why would a Jew with clear resentment against Christian faith even do a documentary on Christianity?

The docu is out of focus. The Dark Ages were not caused by so called Barbarians, but by the Christians & Muslims, who destroyed infrastructure, libraries, stopped the papyrus-export to Europe, introduced a spiritual, means a celestial & earthly stalinism. Before both spiritual pandemies, the heathens were & still are the cultural heroes. The heathens established Hellenic & Roman culture. The Dark Ages did not end in the 11th century (read Eco, You country-fooled editors), but in the 14th century, when North-Italian merchants (Medicis/Borgias) started to make putsches from above by buying the pope's throne in Rome. They re-introduced the heathen culture through the backdoor, which is now called Renaissance. But the reconquista of the Mare Nostrum failed till our days, and the those barbarian muslim-monsters still sit at the Mediterranean.

Between 632 and 1922, Islam launched 548 offensive battles against classical civilization. Syria and Lebanon, was Christian, Egypt was Coptic, Iran Zoroastrian, Afghanistan Buddhist, Pakistan Hindu see a pattern? The Islamic slave trade took 13 Million Slaves out of Africa – but unlike in America they are no Blacks in Islamic Nations – why because they killed all. 5 Million of Europeans were enslaved by the Muslims. Prague and Venice where castration centers 1 in 10 died. Young blonde girls with blue or green eyes from 6 to 16 were most the precious and used as Sexslaves for the Haarems in Arabia and the Ottoman Empire. At times it was estimated that 5% of the Population in Europe was deported and enslaved. Tears of Jihad = 272 Million killed, in the name of Islam. In over 1400 Years of existence of Islam only 26 Years where peaceful. Mohammed had 6 year old Sexslaves, ordered killings of Jews routinely. Muslims build their holy places on the holy places of the Arabic Pagan Hubal. The Kaaba was originally build by Arabic Pagans. The Al Aqsa Mosque was build on the Ruins of the Holy Herodes Temple of the Jews. The Barbarians still made slave raids in Africa when the United States were formed. The first war the US Navy fought was against Barbarian Pirates and Slaveraiders/trades. Check out the Barbarian wars. The Quran (9/29, 9/28, 9/20, 9/16, 9/5) contain 300+ points glorifying violence against, or suppression, or murder of all "infidels", 300+ inciting to, or ordering the same. Child-Rape, Polygamy, Mutilation, Sex Slavery is all "legal" according to the Quran. Islam is more than just a different sort of religion.  It is a rigid political and cultural system with a mandate to conquer and govern the lives of others via necessary force "until religion is only for Allah."  The enemy of this orthodoxy is not just intellectual dissent and free speech, but human freedom.  The divine charter of Islam is to impose itself and thus prevent the individual from discovering a different meaning for their own lives. Check out "why we are afraid of Islam" by Dr. Bill Warner

Cornwall/Kernow was only in the empire for about 50 years. It was probably too wet for their shiny armour, the girls were taller than their men, or the Cornish/Kernewek nicked all their good kit. Of course the Romans still wanted the tin, arsenic, and daffodils- nothing wrong with a bit of trade.

I homeschool our 15 year old son. In researching his history curriculum, I already learned that the three Middle Ages were anything but dark. They were a flurry of activity, thought and merriment. Christianity today is nothing but paganism. Its idols are borrowed from paganism. God commanded us not to have false idols to worship. He wants us to worship Him in spirit, not at any altar full of pagan sun god symbolism, Mithraism etc. I'm from the Canary Islands. We call mainland Spaniards (Iberians) "godos", which comes from the word "goth", chiefly, the Visigoths. Iberians have a distinct nose that was typical of the Visigoths. Once you see this type of nose, you cant unsee it. It is very long and thin. This is a very good documentary that reinforces this correct portrayal of history. Well done.

Thank you for this marvelous travel. Wisigoths were chased off South-Western France (led there by Alaric after the sack of Rome) to Spain by Franks, helped by the Galleo-Romans catholic population. Clovis won this support by converting to catholicism. After they left across Pyreannaes, Catholic clergy made a point to wash away all traces of Wisigoth aryanism. I am so glad to see all theses marvelous remnants. You make me dream to walk your path. 🙂
Charles Martel's fight with some muslims recon squads has been largely overrated for political purposes in his time. And still. The battle is now believed to have been more an escarmouche between small units. But it was enough to show Arabs they could met resistance going north. As their wave was fading in military power and that climate may be not so confortable, they backed away to Mediterranean zone.

The stories, just like his image was made up over time. Man makes up religion to compensate for the fact that we mean very little in the scope of things. Man is no more than an ant in the world of time.

Cromwell destroyed most of the Roman Catholic Churches in Ireland telling the Irish that their religion was wrong, Catholics that would not give up their religion were slaughtered or sold as slaves in the colonies.

The Shroud Of Turin is proof of a scientific event that todays experts cannot explain. Its not a drawing, painting, burn, dust pattern, mildew, chemical reaction, it is an image that has no definitive explaination except that an incredible event of power happened to the individual wrapped in this shroud. 🙏🙏🙏

Let just dwell on the fact that the "pulpit" was originally a sacrificial alter and the fact that the entire story of the Bible is just a newer version of pagan stories thereby making Jesus no more real then Santa clause or the Easter bunny or the flying spaghetti monster…and region truly only breeds violence hatred and idolatry and in my opinion is one of the main causes of the majority of conflicts and serious societal problems we are dealing with today …can't hate the art and there are some good lessons in the story but alot more wrong with it sadly

How Africa Shaped Our Christmas Celebrations: Discover the Hidden History

Published

on

Interestingly, many Christians, particularly Black Christians, are often unaware of the true origins of the December global celebration. Previously, the celebration was variably scheduled in January, March, April, May, or September, reflecting uncertainty about the actual birthdate of Jesus.
The holidays we observe today have their roots in sacred days from ancient Kemetic or what is popularly known as Egyptian culture, where these occasions were timed with celestial events such as the alignment of stars, constellations, and the sun’s position relative to Earth.

The colonial education narrative has consistently taught, and still teaches, Africans that their ancestors relied solely on oral traditions to transmit knowledge and memory. Sadly, Africans in the so-called West, Central, East, and Southern African regions are unaware of writing systems in these parts of Africa.
