What would be the best or worst thing about living in a Medieval castle?

A lot of this is just not accurate. The bath one particularly stood out. There were even publuc bathhouses and let's be honest, rivers and streams. Having your own tub and someone to play music for bathtime was luxurious, but everyone bathed.

x The cold part would certainly bother me, nothing worse than it being cold inside one's home!
x I went to Santa Bárbara Castle all the time (sometimes every day) when I studied abroad in Alicante, Spain.
o A person could just hang out there, it was like a state park in some ways.

    A+ video!
LOVE IT! I would totally live in a castle, even if it was just for a month.

Europeans were gross, messy, and didnt have great medical practices at that time. What I find hilarious that they honestly thought they were better than those who were cleaner and made amazing medical achievements considering the times. I would rather live in the americas or in asia without European interference before Id live in Europe. 😂

😀 In 1979 I visited some of my new relatives by marriage in their little castles nestled in the mountainous area of Virginia near the Kentucky line. Guess what… all of their toilets were "boards with holes in them" too! They put the board with up to two "holes" in them in teeny-tiny little structures which they called their out house. 🙂 Thank goodness the Sear-Roebuck catalog came out when it did. At least we had toilet paper too.

My history teacher back in 1972 told me that Cleopatra had a running water toilet in her egyptian castle. He said that a toilet seat with a hole in it and placed over a hole in the floor that was in a room built over a stream that ran underneath the castle before exiting out of the castle. So you basically did your business, and it fell down into the stream and was swept away by the running water. She actually, in a way, had an automatic flushing toilet.

I can confirm castles are shitholes. In Hyderabad there is a castle/fort call the red fort, it smells terrible and the king had 300+ wife or smt and had 1 step for each wife. But i think it was a nice tour ❤

when people look down their noses at people who want red wine chilled, the best response is "do you have any idea what room temperature was in a medieval castle?"

The fact that all homes were infested with rats & mice is how domestic cats got popular, they were the pest control. There were also insects such as roaches too, but I guess cats probably ate them too.

How did PEASANTS get permission or pay in by way to even live within the castle walls ?
What about the elderly feeble peasants …?
What did they eat daily in different environments where the castles were located at ?
How much was the cost of living back then ?
    Wages ?
    Was there schools ?
Modes of transportation and how much it cost ?

How Africa Shaped Our Christmas Celebrations: Discover the Hidden History

Published

on

Interestingly, many Christians, particularly Black Christians, are often unaware of the true origins of the December global celebration. Previously, the celebration was variably scheduled in January, March, April, May, or September, reflecting uncertainty about the actual birthdate of Jesus.
The holidays we observe today have their roots in sacred days from ancient Kemetic or what is popularly known as Egyptian culture, where these occasions were timed with celestial events such as the alignment of stars, constellations, and the sun’s position relative to Earth.

The colonial education narrative has consistently taught, and still teaches, Africans that their ancestors relied solely on oral traditions to transmit knowledge and memory. Sadly, Africans in the so-called West, Central, East, and Southern African regions are unaware of writing systems in these parts of Africa.
