Head over to Mastro’s Beverly Hills with us as we taste their seafood selections ahead of the upcoming Good Friday holiday for Dinner Diaries.

Mastro’s is more than just a fine dining restaurant here in the heart of Beverly Hills, it’s a part of Hollywood. Which is why this is our number one dinner pick to take your family for this upcoming Good Friday holiday. Their seafood offerings are the freshest, and most delicious options while also surrounding you with a dinner experience bar none in SoCal.

We sat down upstairs while enjoying lovely views of Beverly Hills and were treated to live music and piano while we dined by the lovely and talented Sayaka Alessandroni. She is incredible live, we can’t recommend her enough. If this doesn’t elevate dining we don’t know what does, it’s just another reason why we are so partial to sharing Mastro’s as a destination for all our out of town guests. If you’re a native and you’ve never been you really do have to put Mastro’s at the top of your dining experience list.

To begin our server Brian was very knowledgable and helped us make a decision for what white wine would best pair with our dinner that evening. Knowing we were opting for seafood for this review we wanted a light and crisp wine to best pair with our dinner, Brian brought a sample and upon approval we decided to opt for the bottle. If you’re going for dinner, skip getting a glass and instead decide on a bottle for the table that will compliment your meal. The wine list at Mastro’s does change regularly, but this evening we went for one of their white varietals that was an Albariño, for $51. If you’ve never had this wine we would describe Albariño as a delightful combination of high acidity, with an ethereal salinity, citrus flavours and a long dry finish. If you like Sauvigon Blanc but want to try other varities of white wine, we would highly suggest this pairing for seafood.

For our appetizer we decided to split Mastro’s Lobster Bisque which Brian assured us could be split by the kitchen for us, as we wanted to save plenty of room for our main course. The lobster bisque was brimming with rich flavors and gratuitous bites of lobster in every spoonful. As they bring the bisque out you will be presented with creme fraîche as well as chives for a topping, we opted for chives this evening but passed on the creme fraîche. You can choose to do all, one or none. We love customizing a soup order.

Everything is increbily well timed. We had a beat in-between finishing our appetizer before our dinner came out and this is just how we love our dinner served. A moment between courses to savor your wine is truly the best and doesn’t make you feel as if you dinner experience is being rushed. This detail in service really makes a difference when you’re out to enjoy your dinner.

For our main course we shared the lobster which is listed at market price and is an astounding 12oz. you can easily share this. Brian also expertly cut our beautiful lobster tail in half and it comes with a side serving of stunning melted butter and a half lemon for you to season as you see fit.

We can’t ever pass up scallops and this meal was no different. When we saw Mastro’s was serving scallops on their seafood offerings for dinner we knew we had to try it. You can also get these an appetizer but the dinner portion comes with five scallops and since we we’re sharing this portion size made the most sense. the creamy lemon sauce the scallops are served in also made the perfect pairing to try on our lobster. That is our pro-tip for dinner, do get the scallops and the lobster so you can enjoy the lobster in the scallops sauce. It’s a decadent pairing you won’t regret.

All of Mastro’s entree’s come a la carte, which is why we knew we wanted a little green in our lives and opted for their brussel sprouts. We were really torn between this and their broccolini but the burssel sprouts won out and we couldn’t have been more satisfied. They were just a teeny bit charred which made them beyond perfect for every bite. Plus, we didn’t get a salad which meant we knew we needed a green for our dinner and this was lightly flavored and packed with nutrients which complimented the seafood very well.

Everything was filling and exceptionally cooked, we couldn’t imagine a better way to spend Good Friday if you’re looking for a place to dine out. Mastro’s is also a staple of Beverly Hills and is an experience everyone whether visiting or living here should try. We dined in the penthouse, Mastro’s is located at: 246 N Canon Dr Floor 3, Beverly Hills, CA 90210. Their days and hours are: open for dinner at 5pm and they close between 10/11pm depending on the day, be sure to check the listing.
