African History
Were there Black people in medieval England?
Yes, hundreds.
From the Roman occupation throughout the middle ages black men and women appear in the written record across all levels of society. Henry VIII had a black trumpeter, one of the foremost christian intellectuals of Europe founded a school of philosophy and religion in Canterbury in the 7th century, a black man named Reasonable Blackman worked as a silkweaver in the late 1500s in London.
It is a remarkbale story. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did researching it!

How Africa Shaped Our Christmas Celebrations: Discover the Hidden History
Interestingly, many Christians, particularly Black Christians, are often unaware of the true origins of the December global celebration. Previously, the celebration was variably scheduled in January, March, April, May, or September, reflecting uncertainty about the actual birthdate of Jesus.
The holidays we observe today have their roots in sacred days from ancient Kemetic or what is popularly known as Egyptian culture, where these occasions were timed with celestial events such as the alignment of stars, constellations, and the sun’s position relative to Earth.

African Written Scripts Unearthed: Beyond Egypt's Hieroglyphs
The colonial education narrative has consistently taught, and still teaches, Africans that their ancestors relied solely on oral traditions to transmit knowledge and memory. Sadly, Africans in the so-called West, Central, East, and Southern African regions are unaware of writing systems in these parts of Africa.

The British civilised the world. There has never been a more benevolent Empire!
Gandhi loved us – just didn't want us ruling India – so we left.
Not many people seem to know that Britons were regularly stolen by others – including Africans – long before we started buying Africans from Africans.

1. Septimus Severus was from a Roman patrician family which had settled in Libya. This does not make him black. If a family residing in Africa for a few generations was enough to make them black then the Afrikaaners would be black by now.
2. Ditto for (h)Adrian of Canterbury. Libyans are not black. Adrian was of ethnic Berber stock. Equating North Africans with blacks (sub-saharan Africans) is annoying and inaccurate.
I see no issue with the rest of the claims in the video.

Why is it 'likely' that all they all married "white English women"? Didn't black women exist back then? How does that equate to black people being in Britain if it was only black men? Makes zero sense.

Even if we accept pseudo historians like David Olusoga over his insistence that black people where present in medieval/tudor England it would be such a minute percentage of the population, otherwise we’d be have been a far more mixed race nation. Which we’ve only been this past 30-40 years.
