Ways Your Life Today Is Far More Luxurious Than a Medieval King

Published

on

What was daily life like for a king or queen during the Middle Ages? Contrary to what you might imagine, it didn’t involve lounging in robes of silk and satin and indulging in lots of feasting. In reality, the life of medieval royals involved a lot of incest, sickness, and cold castles.

You’ll probably feel better about your own situation after learning what life for royalty in medieval times was like. Women were married off to very close relatives for diplomatic purposes; on many occasions, they were only in their early teens at the time. Sadly, the death rates for mothers and children were quite high, and the general lack of hygiene most definitely didn’t help.

physicians from the classical era until the early 20th century commonly treated hysteria by manually stimulating the genitals of female patients to the point of orgasm, which was denominated "hysterical paroxysm",

I always think it's amazing that we live better than they did. I saw someone say something along the lines of, "but you dont have servants like they did", as if that is such a great thing. 😂 I am very picky on how things are done around my house and having a servant would not work for me. I'm sure it's the same for many people.

I saw a comment stating that the picture of Charles V was wrong but it's correct so don't worry. Charles V of Spain had the notorious Habsburg jaw.

Another comment stated that it's incorrect that women were not educated. I saw you said "many" not "all". Many weren't educated unless they had parents or guardians who believed that it was necessary.

When comparing the scientific knowledge and practices of Europe and Asia, Africa, and the Americas, it is glaringly obvious how low of intelligence, caused by inbreeding, was in European royalty. Other cultures were in much higher levels of culture, science, food production and distribution, SANITATION etc.

My father said that we all live like kings by this standard, all the modern accoutrements equate to having ~40 servants in pre-modern times.

It really is the small things we take for granted that put our lives way above those from the Middle Ages, like washing machines, dryers, bathrooms, clean running water, electricity and being able to heat or cool down your home. Not to mention being able to go to a doctor or simply going to the grocery store.

How Africa Shaped Our Christmas Celebrations: Discover the Hidden History

Published

on

Interestingly, many Christians, particularly Black Christians, are often unaware of the true origins of the December global celebration. Previously, the celebration was variably scheduled in January, March, April, May, or September, reflecting uncertainty about the actual birthdate of Jesus.
The holidays we observe today have their roots in sacred days from ancient Kemetic or what is popularly known as Egyptian culture, where these occasions were timed with celestial events such as the alignment of stars, constellations, and the sun’s position relative to Earth.

The colonial education narrative has consistently taught, and still teaches, Africans that their ancestors relied solely on oral traditions to transmit knowledge and memory. Sadly, Africans in the so-called West, Central, East, and Southern African regions are unaware of writing systems in these parts of Africa.
