9:34 I am sorry but this is a terrible misrepresentation of the real historical events. While French were defeated at Crecy and Agincourt, both battles were won by many complex aspects (like morale, tactics, terrain, weather, overall leadership…). Implying that after Crecy, knights were effectively useless and cut down by peasants is just spreading myths and falsehoods. There were very good reasons why heavy armor – both heavy infantry and cavalry – stayed very much present on the battlefields even during 1400s and 1500s, and there were very good reasons why the 100 years war took 100 years and was lost by the English, even while French kept their heavy cavalry. It took very serious firearms development to slowly fade armor away from battlefields. Longbows lacked power to do so on their own. No "knocking off their barded horses" was actually happening in 1300s… Stop even implying that.

The Middle Age was a true cilivilation failure.
Everything the Romans and Helenics did and built was casted away and replaced with decadence, religious extremism and poverty.

One important thing missed in the video is that less people lived in cities and more in countryside in orthodox world; leftovers of Byzantium so Serbia, Bulgaria, Anatolya… therefore suffered way less during plague and because of that church maintained its reputation, there were no heretics, cults, inquisation and so on. On the contrary orthodox church was pillar of statehood and uniting factor against otoman expansion and domination so to this day orthodox countries are more traditional, fate-nurishing etc. I think its worth mentionig Kosovo battle in 1389 since it was one of the bloodiest of that century, arround 50-60 thousand soldiers fought and both armies leaders were slain, Christian Serbian king Lazar and Otoman sultan Murat, it was colision of worlds in a way. Soon after orthodox world along with the holy city of Constantinople fell under Otoman rule. Traumatic period indeed.

Corona was the worst pandemic. Look at the numbers. Dont just put blind facts with no backround. Corona!! 🤣The worst thing is that the goverments around the world have already "cried wolf"….. If indeed comes a pandemic(not like with the corona joke), which is strong and dangerous enough to wipe us out of the planet, noone will trust them….. Thats the biggest problem, as far as pandemic is concerned.

Postmodernism and Its Impact, Explained.

Published

Helen Pluckrose outlines some of the arguments later explored in depth in her bestselling 2020 book, Cynical Theories (co-authored with James Lindsay). The essay charts the pernicious influence of postmodernist thinking on two generations of academics and activists. If you want to understand how we got to a place where microaggressions are denounced as violence but the brutal terrorism of an intifada is considered righteous, this is an important primer.

Iona Italia reads Helen Pluckrose’s essay published in Quillette: https://quillette.com/2024/05/07/how-french-intellectuals-ruined-the-west-foucault-lyotard-derrida/
