BAKU – For many nations across Sub-Saharan Africa, the legacy of European colonialism remains a fact of existence. In Cameroon, the nation finds itself torn between the francophone government and anglophone separatists. Although frustrations emerged briskly a few years ago, the origins of the standoff traces back to the colonial era and the infamous scramble for Africa.

The manner and speed at which the UK and other Europeans left Africa is what caused all this it did more harm than good they should've stayed for at least a decade or 2 after independence to make sure a democratic culture and institutions took root in the continent

Your analysis are VERY WRONG. Cameroon is made up of two main countries under the League of Nations as Mandate Territories and then under the United Nations as Trust Territories. To therefore assume is language problem shows how little research you've taken. The People of Southern Cameroons or Ambazonia and the La Republique Du Cameroun were two separate countries before coming together. Because of consistent and persistent abuses on Ambazonians by Lrc, the former have opted to go back to their original status. However, when they merge, the terms Anglophone and Francophone were used to distinguish the two people.

Go tell to a stupid Ambaboy that it's a pointless conflict. He will tell you that "La Repoublic" must leave them alone. Now they are killing their own English speaking people and ask for money

Some people here have bizarre delusions that: "the people of Cameroon shouldn't care about which European language they speak." That's the least culturally-sensitive one could get! Of course each side is going to be attached to the language of its community. Plus, if one is already proficient in English, having him to forcefully learn French and become disadvantaged by lack of fluency is obviously going to bewilder him!

Is it too late for them to join Nigeria? Or maybe even join the Biafran war seperatist ?xD. I don't know what to say.

English & French speakers cant coexist in the same country. They are like different species. They should just separate peacefully. Just look at Quebec & Canada & youll understand what im talking about.

The Ambazonia would have been better off if the joined Nigeria as their northern counterparts

Postmodernism and Its Impact, Explained.

Helen Pluckrose outlines some of the arguments later explored in depth in her bestselling 2020 book, Cynical Theories (co-authored with James Lindsay). The essay charts the pernicious influence of postmodernist thinking on two generations of academics and activists. If you want to understand how we got to a place where microaggressions are denounced as violence but the brutal terrorism of an intifada is considered righteous, this is an important primer.

Iona Italia reads Helen Pluckrose’s essay published in Quillette: https://quillette.com/2024/05/07/how-french-intellectuals-ruined-the-west-foucault-lyotard-derrida/
