That’s actually a nice talk which also applies to Eastern Europe, but many people choose their future university by looking at top 100 universities and neither of African, Indian or Eastern European universities are there. Of course, you can find there many Chinese, Japanese and Singaporean universities, but still

You have to be specific when you say Asia,as most East Asian universities score well in the world universities rankings, specifically universities in Singapore,Hong Kong, China,Japan, South Korea, etc.(eg the best university in China,Tsinghua,is ranked 22,while the National university of Singapore is ranked 23 best in the world according to the THE rankings)
Sadly,no Indian universities feature in the top 200 world's best universities in any of the well known rankings at all so maybe you were right to be skeptical all along about your mum's suggestion that you apply to an Indian university!.lol🤣
