Will the Corona Virus become endemic or will it just go away with a vaccine or herd immunity? Truth is nobody know. This could be here forever.

Excellent summary. I'm glad Ms. Reich gave credit to Monty Python for their historically accurate portrayal of the Black Death.

11:12 "With a more limited number of hosts, the disease would run through everyone on the estate." In epidemiological terms, infectious diseases don't become more voracious because there are fewer hosts. I think that she means that the estates' dense households provided a guarantee of infectious contact—like modern cities, care homes, and daft "pandemic parties".

I hate you for telling me that plague masks were an invention of a much later century. But I thank you for setting me straight about that.

An excellent presentation although the mention of having insufficient skeletal evidence of diseases with respect to “ Plagues’ is irrelevant. Very few diseases actually leave skeletal evidence. Certainly Yersinia Pestis has not left any skeletal evidence although there are many excavation from these mass grave sites. There are two diseases that come to mind that do leave skeletal evidence.Syphilis and Leprosy, although usually only in their advanced state.
While this episode was. Primarily dealing with the social interactions surrounding the Black Death, there are other diseases that became into a pandemic form with multiple outbreak sites as opposed to a radiative. Depiction. In this the English Sweat comes to mind. The two outbreaks of this disease while it primarily affected those if British heritage, was not confined to England.
The best thing from a sociological standpoint is that today with our ability. To j scantly communicate in a highly social manner, we have the ability to research historical occurrences along with our current knowledge of epidemiology, quickly work in a manner to limit transmission.as much. As possible until an eradicative agent can be found. We can also use historical evidence to gauge the efficacy of our efforts. Even with the English Sweat. It was estimated that approximately 10% of the population died. So. Based upon an estimate of that nature, and with a figure of a current population of 750 billion., such a mortality would mean the death of around 750 Million. That we are nowhere near that figure is indicative that our efforts are the most effective that we have been able to achieve. It can be considered that those that consciously ignore these efforts will have a greater chance of infection and mortality.

We can see that today's covid plague, people are still behaving and reacting to superstitions. Today's quarentine procedures, lock downs, and masks, where practiced ca. 1500 years ago and today too. Covid is more about superstitious reactions and beliefs than actual science.

How Africa Shaped Our Christmas Celebrations: Discover the Hidden History

Published

on

Interestingly, many Christians, particularly Black Christians, are often unaware of the true origins of the December global celebration. Previously, the celebration was variably scheduled in January, March, April, May, or September, reflecting uncertainty about the actual birthdate of Jesus.
The holidays we observe today have their roots in sacred days from ancient Kemetic or what is popularly known as Egyptian culture, where these occasions were timed with celestial events such as the alignment of stars, constellations, and the sun’s position relative to Earth.

The colonial education narrative has consistently taught, and still teaches, Africans that their ancestors relied solely on oral traditions to transmit knowledge and memory. Sadly, Africans in the so-called West, Central, East, and Southern African regions are unaware of writing systems in these parts of Africa.
