Bebe Rexha on Painful PCOS Symptom Her Doctor Thought Was Appendicitis

Published

on

Much like the lyrics to her 2017 song, Bebe Rexha has a message for anyone else struggling with PCOS: “Baby, don’t you worry. I got you.”

In a TikTok video shared late Wednesday, the 34-year-old songstress answered a fan question asking what symptoms Rexha experiences with polycystic ovarian syndrome, often abbreviated as PCOS. The hormonal condition typically involves follicles containing immature eggs around the edge of the ovary and irregular periods. Excess androgen hormones from the syndrome also can cause acne and excess facial hair.

The four-time Grammy nominee candidly responded to the fan’s query, revealing her menstruation has been irregular. For example, in February, she said she had her period for a total of 20 days that month. Rexha noted there are also months where she would not get her period at all.

She noted she has gained a lot of weight in four years despite counting calories and working out sometimes twice a day.

While she said the medication Metformin has helped her period get back on track, the performer also mentioned that it makes her sick, so she’s still working her way up to the therapeutic dose.

Perhaps the most painful symptom she’s experience is “bad cysts,” seemingly referring to ones on her ovaries. Rexha said she recently was experiencing so much pain, she went to urgent care and her doctor suspected she had appendicitis. Instead, it was a cyst that had burst.

“The only thing that helped me,” she said, “…is a heating pad.”

Rexha has previously spoken out about her struggles with PCOS. While addressing people’s commentary about her weight gain during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show in 2023, she revealed she had been diagnosed with PCOS a year earlier.

Ahead of the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, Rexha spoke out about her mounting anxiety over stepping out on the red carpet and people discussing her weight.

“I’m not really loving myself right now. I’m not really feeling like the bad b**ch that I usually am,” she said in a since-deleted TIkTok video. “I guess everybody has these days and nobody ever feels perfect.”

Minnesota Vikings Rookie Khyree Jackson Dead at 24 After Car Crash

The NFL is mourning one of their own.

Minnesota Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Upper Marlboro, Md. early July 6, less than three months after he was selected by the team in the fourth round of the league’s 2024 draft. He was 24.

Maryland State Police said in a statement that the athlete had been riding in a Dodge Charger with Isaiah Hazel, 23, and Anthony Lytton Jr., 24, his former teammates from Wise Jr. High School. The latter two had also played at Florida State and Penn State, and Maryland and Charlotte, respectively, according to multiple reports.

Jackson and Hazel, the driver, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and Lytton died after being taken to a hospital, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicates that around 3 a.m., a female driver of an Infinity Q50 had attempted to change lanes while driving fast when she struck the car carrying the athletes and then also hit a Chevrolet Impala. The Charger subsequently traveled off the road and hit multiple tree stumps, police said.
