‘Thrash Metal Is Better Than Drugs And Alcohol’

Published

on

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine knows that thrash metal is better than both drugs and alcohol.

In a recent interview with Rock Hard Greece, the guitarist described the genre as ‘one of those things that makes you feel alive inside.’ He mentioned being grateful for still being able to play with no problems:

“It’s remarkable that I can still play. I am glad I’m still playing. I don’t want to play if the fans think I shouldn’t be playing. If we started doing music that wasn’t heavy and it wasn’t thrash, I would probably not want to do it anymore.”

The singer also mentioned that not a single thing felt as good as thrash metal:

“And thrash metal music is one of those things that makes you feel alive inside. I can’t remember anything that I’ve ever experienced that makes me feel as good as thrash metal — not a drug, not a drink, not a person, not a thing.”

What’s The Key To A Successful Thrash Song?

In a chat on BBC Radio 4’s Saturday Live, Mustaine talked about what he thinks makes a thrash song work.

He mentioned Chuck Berry’s ‘Johnny B. Goode’ from 1958 and Mott the Hoople’s ‘All the Young Dudes’ from 1970 as songs that influenced him. According to him, ‘All the Young Dudes’ had a simple yet beautiful melody, which he believes is key in not just a metal song, but in any song. He explained:

“Quincy Jones is a very famous producer here in America, we were making the ‘Rust in Peace’ record at the time, and had gone to their party and Quincy was there. He’d said to our engineer and producer that the key to successful songs was beat, melody, and 10 simple words.”

Mustaine added:

“So I guess the most important thing I would like to leave to future generations is to echo what Quincy had said. But to make it my own, I’d say in order to be successful in thrash, you need to have a heavy beat, melody and, I’d say probably 20 simple words because we sing so much faster.”

Cooper Kupp’s Wife Anna Shares Why 2023 Season Was “So Much More Difficult” for Her Husband

Cooper Kupp is aiming for a rebound season after two quieter years. However, the Los Angeles Rams wide receiver recently acknowledged that the 2023 NFL season was particularly tough for him during a sit-down podcast conversation with his wife, Anna.

On ‘Daily Grind,’ the Super Bowl LVI MVP and his wife discussed how the 2023 NFL season brought both challenges and growth to their relationship. She compared this to Cooper’s rookie season, which was harder because they felt isolated and didn’t share their struggles with each other. Anna shared,

“Last season, the 2023 season, was so much more difficult in the amount of things you were walking through, but it was so much more enjoyable for us to walk through it. You know, it was still really really hard, and there were such hard things, but because we did it together, we were able to find joy.”

Cooper and Anna are now focused on continuing to strengthen their bond this season by setting boundaries to protect their marriage from external pressures. Communication is crucial for them, and they intend to make an effort to stay in touch and support each other through all the challenges they face.

On a brighter note, Anna added that keeping up with their wild bunch of kids is a whole other adventure. Although their three sons, Cooper Jameson Kupp, Cypress Stellar Kupp, and Solas Reign Kupp, always keep her on her toes, she loves making a list of all the funny, yet absurd things they say, especially their eldest, who uses ‘funked up’ quite a bit.

Before diving into the conversation about the difficulties of last season, Cooper also opened up about how his rookie season setbacks affected his personal life.

Cooper Reveals Emotional Toll of Rookie Year Mistakes

During the conversation, Anna shared that she felt weighed down by Cooper’s every perceived mistake during his rookie NFL season. He would bring his struggles home, isolate himself, and neglect communication, leaving her feeling helpless and unable to offer support.

The star wide receiver agreed, acknowledging that he had carried the weight of his poor plays, such as dropping a touchdown pass in Week 4 and fumbling on the two-yard line against the Vikings.

“I think in rookie year, there were some very clear failures, like dropping a game-winning pass in week four; fumbling on the two-yard line against Minnesota. Times like that made you feel like you were carrying the weight of the world.”

Nevertheless, the power couple learned quite a bit along the way. They realized that while it is acceptable to bring work issues home, discussing them to overcome them openly is equally crucial.

Looking back from 2017 to now, it’s amazing how much Cooper and Anna have grown. They are a team, and that makes all the difference.

Another Baby Kelce could be on the way in the future.

Kylie Kelce has hinted that she and Jason Kelce aren’t ruling out the possibility of trying for a fourth child. In fact, the retired NFL star’s wife, who shares with her husband daughters Wyatt, 4, Elliotte, 3, and Bennett, 16 months, says she saved some of their kids’ pajamas just in case they do end up having another baby.

“We’re rotating through clothes we bought for our first daughter now to our youngest, so we have gone through a lot of hand-me-downs,” Kylie, 32, told New York Magazine‘s The Strategist in a recent interview. “The Hanna Anderson PJs last forever. We still have some packed up, just in case there ends up being a fourth.”

In March, Jason, 36, debunked rumors that alleged that Kylie was expecting again. “Listen, Kylie, apparently, is pregnant with our fourth child,” the former Philadelphia Eagles center joked to his brother Travis Kelce —known to his daughters as Uncle Travvy—on their New Heights podcast. “It’s a boy.”

Playing along, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end responded, “What, no way!”

Jason continued, “In this made-up universe.”
