They Came Before Columbus – Dr Ivan Van Sertima, Part 1

Published

on

This video is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Ivan Van Sertima who made is transition on May 25th, 2009. A celebrated classic, They Came Before Columbus, deals with a number of contacts — both planned and accidental, between Africans and Americans in different historical periods. Evidence for a physical/cultural presence of Africans in Early America is methodically examined.

Dr. Van Sertima reveals to us a compelling, dramatic and superbly detailed documentation of the presence and legacy of black Africans in ancient America.

With his considerable scholarship, Van Sertima examines the facts of navigation and shipbuilding, the sources of latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates, the scores of cultural analogies found nowhere else except in America and Africa, African languages and the transportation of plants, cloth and animals from Africa to the Americas. And from the diaries, letters and journals of the explorers themselves; from Carbon-14 dated sculptures found in the Americas; from the Arabic documents, charts, maps from the recorded tales of the griots to the Kings of Mali; from dated skeletons found as recently as 1975, the author builds his pyramid of evidence.

    R.I.P. DR. Ivan Van Sertima
"We have come to reclaim the house of history. We are dedicated to the revision of the role of the African in the world's great civilizations, the contribution of Africa to the achievement of man in the arts and sciences. We shall emphasize what Africa has given to the world, not what it has lost."

Allow us to honor the life of our Elder Dr. Ivan Van Sertima who became an ancestor on May 25th, 2009 as we were convening our Black Power Conference.

People we are missing the point, this great man's work was not designed to increase the " my dad's bigger than yours" syndrome but to bring light on purposely hidden knowledge so that we are able to instill in others a desire for the truth, remember anything that relates to past will have its roots in Africa and all our present day positive technology, so please all this interlectual posturing is unnecessary just uphold the right

What Viking art works portray them as being Black/African?

Yes the human race starts with Africans but to follow your thinking then modern day Germans are actually Black because way back in ancient prehistory they evolved from ancient Africans, right?

Just learned this existed today. When Listervelt Middleton died we were concerned the knowledge he shared weekly would be stifled. We are learning moor and moor each day about the true nature of the human race and its history…

No one ever truly dies until they are forgotten…long live Dr. Ivan Van Sertima and his work!!!

Nazikiwe, thanks for your comment. Bro. Listervel Middleton's show "For The People" was instrumental in my transition. I was definitely inspired by it in putting together this Youtube Channel and some future endeavors that I have planned.

Wow now I'm starting to understand why the KNOWLEGABLE whites fear the empowerment of the BLACK masses. Because when we learn the lessons of our past and how we were able to become conquered then our talents are naturally dominant on the planet earth

@mjrob1914 Did you hear about the up coming show with this very title? It is coming on one of those history channels. It appears that they are willing to say columbus did not discover America, but they still want to say it was the Irish or vikings.
