Patrick Dempsey, the veteran of Grey’s Anatomy, has joined the Paramount+/ Showtime show as a series regular. He’s joining previously the announced Christian Slater. The character breakdown we know at the moment consists of, Christian Slater’s character is the protagonist (or antagonist?) Harry Morgan. Meanwhile, Patrick Dempsey will portray Aaron Spencer, the captain of the Miami Metro Homicide who has a decades-long relationship with Slater’s character Morgan.

“Patrick Dempsey is a beloved actor who is internationally known for the iconic characters he has played and his performances,” said Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global co-CEO and president/CEO, Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios. “We are thrilled to have him join our all-star cast of Dexter: Original Sin, the highly anticipated origin story of the franchise.”

Original Sin is set in 1991 and follows Dexter Morgan (played by Patrick Gibson) as he becomes an avenging serial killer under the guidance and code of his father, Harry Morgan. The series was originally ordered last year as Dexter: Origins. With many studio movements and the dual strikes going on, it was moved like many other shows. The changes have seen a new name, and possibly more changes in the months to come. Be sure to circle back as we will be sure to keep you updated!
